The Pahadi police of Bharatpur district on Monday unearthed a racket involved in stealing expensive mobile phones worth Rs 1.30 crore. Police arrested three persons and recovered over 400 phones that were stolen from a consignment and concealed in a truck carrying tyres.

ALWAR: The Pahadi police of Bharatpur district on Monday unearthed a racket involved in stealing expensive mobile phones worth Rs 1.30 crore. Police arrested three persons and recovered over 400 phones that were stolen from a consignment and concealed in a truck carrying tyres.
According to police, the thieves had robbed 470 iPhones that were to be delivered from Gurugram to Hyderabad. “The consignment left on June 8 evening. It appears that the thieves followed the container truck and, in connivance with the transport company employees, stole eight cartons of mobile phones after breaking the digital lock during the early hours on June 9. We got specific information about a truck in which the thieves had concealed the stolen goods under the tyres. Our team intercepted the truck and recovered 406 out of the 470 mobile phones,” said a senior police officer from Bharatpur on Monday.
Police stated that mobiles were transported in a container having a digital locking system. “It has to be investigated how these thieves managed to break the digital lock which is password enabled. All the three arrested will be interrogated,” the officer added.
The arrested accused were identified as Moin Khan(25), Niyaz Mohammed(24) and Mohammed Sajjid(32).
“The cost of these mobile phones is nearly Rs 1.3 crore. Some of them have not been found on the accused,” the officer said.
According to police, the owner of the transport company too had some suspicion and had informed the police.

Jaipur: “It was found that a car was following the truck. The police first seized the truck in which the mobile phones were concealed and then arrested the three thieves who were in the car,” the officer said. Kaman circle officer Pradeep Yadav said, “We had some information on the theft. We had also known that these thieves had planned to sell off these phones in Haryana.”
